1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons butter, melted
6 medium tart apples, thinly sliced and peeled
1 pastry shell (9 inches)
1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons cold butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup sliced almonds, toasted
Combine sugar, butter, flour, salt and nutmeg with cranberries and apples in a bowl. Stir them gently. Pour these into a pastry shell.
Now combine the flour, cinnamon and brown sugar; cut in butter until crumbly, in a small bowl.
Stir in almonds and sprinkle this over filling. Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until apples are tender.
